The Bundacree Creek bridge replacement project involved removing the existing timber bridge and installing a two-lane multi-cell box culvert along with road approaches. To maintain access for Minimbah area residents, a temporary 15-meter-long bridge was constructed using a 230-tonne crane.
Given the susceptibility of the area to high water levels due to rains, ACG constructed a bund and diversion drain, supported by two 6-inch pumps running 24/7 to keep the work area dry. Ensuring the site remained free from water was crucial for the proper installation of the box culvert slab. Located within a fisheries permit area, the project required stringent environmental controls to prevent contamination of the watercourse. ACG implemented robust measures to ensure that no pollutants entered the creek during the construction of the diversion bund.
Despite facing weather-related delays and rising creek levels, ACG successfully opened the road to the public on time. The diligent management of the site and adherence to environmental safeguards were critical in achieving this milestone. Residents praised ACG for maintaining a presentable, tidy, and efficient worksite, underscoring the project’s success and the company’s commitment to high standards of operation and community satisfaction.
