Alliance Construction Group (ACG) were engaged by Kempsey Shire Council to complete remediation works and site improvements to mitigate environmental risks, manage site drainage and ensure compliance with EPA licence requirements for the current and future landfill operations at Kempsey Waste Management Facility.
The works include improving the facility’s drainage and leachate system with decommissioning and renewal of exiting leachate drains, construction of open profile drains, featuring clay liners and concrete silt traps.
Rebuilding the entire perimeter of the leachate interception system will significantly reduce the amount of stormwater entering the storage ponds. In turn it decreased the volume of leachate generated, ensuring that the facility will operate safely for years to come.
