The EP2 & EP3 Road Embankment Restorations project involved the remediation of 26 landslip sites across 19 public roads within the PMHC region. These works restored safe road access to local communities following significant slope failures due to extreme weather events.
CHALLENGES
Although ACG faced many challenges during the restoration of the landslips, the most notable were;
- Complex Site Access: Remote and steep locations required careful plant mobilization and site-specific traffic control.
- Environmental Sensitivity: Several sites were adjacent to waterways and National Parks, demanding strict erosion and sediment control.
- Variable Ground Conditions: Slopes presented mixed materials, including loose soils and hard rock, requiring adaptive drilling and grouting strategies.
- Weather Dependencies: Mitigation measures were developed for stormwater management and slope protection during heavy rainfall events.
SOLUTIONS
- Efficient Project Management: Leveraged ACG’s Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) to ensure quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Innovative Slope Stabilisation: Employed soil nails, rock anchors, gabion baskets, and geosynthetic reinforcement for long-term stability.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Close coordination with PMHC and residents minimized disruptions and ensured safe traffic flows.
- On-Time Delivery: All 26 sites were successfully remediated ahead of the revised schedule despite adverse conditions.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
- Full restoration of safe access across PMHC’s road network.
- Zero major incidents, with all HSEQ KPIs achieved.
