Cessnock City Council awarded the LGP420 Panel Contract to Alliance Construction Group for the Landslip Remedial Package 2 project, which involved six landslip remediation sites; Boree Valley Road; Finchley Track; Murrays Run Road, Stockyard Creek Road and Wollombi Road, Sweetmans Creek on the Cessnock LGA Road network following major floods in February and June 2022.
This project addressed areas where the road embankment failures occurred, to secure infrastructure, improve safety, and ensure resilience against future erosion or subsidence.
The project faced several challenges, including adverse winter weather conditions, coordination of local road closures, resident access, and sourcing materials. However, strategic planning and our ability to schedule works effectively across multiple sites, ensured seamless progress despite confined access and remote locations.
These remedial works have bolstered the infrastructure’s defence against natural hazards, improving long-term road safety and accessibility for the community.
