This project focused on upgrading one of the primary sewer junctions within Westport Park to improve its functionality and efficiency. Given the park’s significance as a venue for various events and its high pedestrian foot traffic, careful planning was
essential to ensure minimal disruptions.
Nightshifts were scheduled strategically to minimise interruptions during the day, ensuring that parkgoers could continue to enjoy their activities without inconvenience. This required coordination not only within the team but also with local authorities, particularly the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC), who played a pivotal role in isolating the water main to facilitate the sewer upgrades.
Approximately 8 cubed meters of hazardous material needed to be safely removed—a task that demanded strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations. Our qualified crew approached the task with utmost caution, prioritising the well-being of both workers and the public.
The sewer upgrades were conducted carefully, following Aus-Spec Standard Drawings and detailed design specifications to ensure quality and compliance. Collaboration with PMHC remained constant throughout, with both parties working seamlessly to navigate the complexities of the park’s infrastructure.
